Maya en México is out — ten episodes, start to finish, in English, Spanish, and Chinese.
Maya is a backpacker making her way through Oaxaca. Episode 1 puts her on a flight next to a stranger named Liam; by the time you reach episode 10, you know both of them well enough to guess what they’ll do next. In between: passport control, a taxi ride, a hostel check-in, a market, a café, a bus out of the city, a village stay, a beach afternoon, and a goodbye that actually lands, because you were there for the whole trip.
Why we built it this way
We wrote about the shift from standalone stories to series a couple of days ago — the short version is that a cast you already know is one less thing to decode, which leaves more attention for the language itself. Maya en México is the first full test of that idea, and it’s built to be read in order. Vocabulary from episode 2 shows up again in episode 6. Rosa, who runs the hostel, isn’t reintroduced every time she appears — you just recognize her.
The whole arc sits at A1. That’s deliberate: an entire series at one level means you can read straight through without the plot suddenly outrunning your vocabulary halfway in.
